It Never Gets Old

I don’t know why I love you
But I do.

These days that tune is everywhere on TV in an Expedia ad. It’s a sentiment that might as easily apply to many other things: the red rock of Sedona, for example.

It’s been a few years since we’ve been here, but the red rock endures. And I love it. It never gets old.

Our walk was a 3.6-mile loop around Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock. Like most desert hikes, it was mostly up and down, down and up. In that distance I learned that although the red rock never gets old, sometime in the last few years I did. Whew.

Sign seen just before getting back to the parking lot. How did they know?

Isabel – when I see pictures like these I often wonder how many other people have stood in the same spot and taken a similar picture.
Looking back from the north side of Bell Rock towards Chimney Rock is also another great picture and vista.

    • Isabel Gibson says:

John – Indeed. And I’ve stood in the same spot and taken pictures before, too. Somehow I still couldn’t resist.

You’re not old yet. As long as you can continue to be amazed by such sights, you’re not old.
You might be someday…but not yet.

    • Isabel Gibson says:

Tom – Well, that’s a happy perspective and I take your point. My calf muscles, however, seem to be ancient. 🙂

      • Tom Watson says:

Well, I know what you mean about sore muscles.
Last night was our annual Music Festival gala, which I emcee.

I had also purchased two boxes of wine (24 bottles) to be sold there. In addition, a school band that was performing didn’t have a set of drums so I had to take mine for them.

I’m paying up for all the lugging today!

Don’t know why they call similar stuff more northerly “Bad Lands”.

    • Isabel Gibson says:

Barbara – Well, I wouldn’t want to make a living off either stretch of land – except maybe from tourists. Beautiful but tough.

Sign. Excellent! Sadly, it says it all.
