The Philosophers’ Stone: Redux

Well.

Imagine that.

Each of these Walmart wedges carries only one message, not three.

So much for the puzzle of trying to figure out the sequence. But a new puzzle emerges. Who would pay $13.97 for just one philosophical statement?

There’s lots of puzzles at Walmart.

Not totally on topic, but yesterday I went to the nearby Walmart. One item I wanted to buy was a package of good old-fashioned, garden variety, safety razor blades. For a particular type of cutter I use. Lots of razor blades on display in the Pharmacy section, except for the type I wanted. I asked an attendant and he had no idea what I was talking about…he said he was 36 years old and had never seen what I was describing.

I think that falls into the “C’est la vie” category from last week.

      Tom, Maybe try Home Depot?

Who’d a thunk of going to Home Depot for razor blades? I just looked on their website. They have blades but not the old double edged safety razor blades.

Amazon has a slew of them, but almost all are not the right size. Who’d a thunk there were numerous sizes?

        My hunt continues.
        Thanks, Marilyn.

Tom – Certainly not the “Best.Day.Ever.” category. Since it’s a tool, I’d also consider Canadian Tire. But you might need to update the infrastructure to use those newfangled blades.

Good to know. There is a Dollar Tree in Guelph. I’ll check.
I went to another dollar store, called “A Buck or Two Plus” but none there.
    Thanks.

Tom – It’s amazing that in the midst of such plenty, we have trouble finding mundane things. Well, I get it – it’s the economics of usage rates and shelf space and such, but still.

Something interesting. I just went to Dollar Tree. Here’s what I found.
They sell a safety razor that has with it a package of 5 blades.
The bad news is that you can’t buy packages of blades by themselves.
The good news is the razor plus five blades is $1.25.
So…buy the package and throw away the razor, because I don’t need it!

Thanks for the Dollar Tree tip.

As my mother used to say, cheap at half the price.
