Poetry of the Week
O, to take what we love inside,
to carry within us an orchard, to eat
not only the skin, but the shade,
not only the sugar, but the days, to hold
the fruit in our hands, adore it, then bite into
the round jubilance of peach.Read the whole poem, here.
It's a tad more lyrical than my haiku-ish effort which, in the original, has only three lines:
Purveyed in plastic,
Slimy, bite-sized squish. Peaches?
Maybe. But no ice.Posted: May 10
Article of the Week
The farmer, deeply attuned to nature’s rhythms and the passage of time, reminds us: It is not only how we harvest our crops that matters, but how we harvest the fleeting gift of time itself. - On the Omer and Orchids
