Sometimes life intervenes in a schedule. Last year it was a demanding work project interrupting my exercises for several months. Last May it was a mild bout of Covid-19 handling the interruption chores for a few weeks. Last week it was a technical failure of some sort that sidelined my video-editing software.
The challenge with any interruption is to not get derailed permanently, but instead to re-rail myself as quickly as possible. This video sees me back on track, marking the nominal conclusion of my six-year Fit at 70 project.
Day-to-day, even week-to-week, progress can be imperceptible, much like aging. In this regard, having a video record from six years ago is a mixed blessing. So it goes: The best is yet to be, eh?
Anything is better than nothing. Overcoming interruptions is the key, as you know. Congratulations on your perseverance!
Judith – <> True. “Having” to “report” semi-annually has been a huge motivator, even though it’s a commitment entirely driven by me.
The best exercise I know is a dog, who says, three times a day, “Come on, Dad! Are we ready to go yet, Dad? Where are we going today, Dad? Hunh? Hunh? Oh, goody, let’s go!”
Sadly, I lost my energy-booster eight months ago, and my physical fitness mourns her absence daily.

Jim T – I could send you timed emails . . . Actually, that’s not a bad idea. I think a lot of the fitness apps have that kind of external prompt, as well as opportunities to compare progress/activity with friends & relations. As Judith said, anything is better than nothing.
Great update Isabel… and good going!
Lorna – Many thanks. It’s fun at this end to be able to see the change, for sure.
Well done Isabel. There was a good piece on balance, and how important it is to fitness as we age into these advanced years. From one exercise you’ve got on video you’re already there. if you can open this….

Ken – Many thanks. With some targeted exercises, my balance has improved a lot, albeit slowly. It turns out the glutes are key. Who knew? 🙂

Isabel – The ‘annual version’ of a ‘semi-annual milestone’. I are confused!
John – 🙂 Not my best phrasing, perhaps. Annual instalment? All I meant to say was that I missed the last semi-annual milestone, so it had been a year since I did an update.
No biggie Isabel, but I couldn’t resist the temptation to edit the editor.
John – 🙂 Nor should you. Where would be the fun in that?
