A Fistful of Faces

As seen on a recent trip to Winnipeg, one art card offered at least four faces/characters. Can four faces appear by accident in one piece of graphic art, just as a function of the underlying design or style choices? Whether by chance or intention, here they are, top to bottom . . .

Grinch

And his face is even green!

Tasmanian Devil (TBC)

With his triangle body that’s all head and his arms over said head, this one reminded me of a character from a TV cartoon, but I couldn’t figure it out. The Tasmanian Devil, mayhap?

Spaniel

The antlers are optional.

  1. Jim Taylor says:

I think there’s also a French Poodle, with long nose and pom-pommed ears, directly below the Tasmanian Devil and above the spaniel.

According to the standard explanations for Rorschach ink blots, the fact that we’re looking for details WITHIN the bigger picture would suggest that we’re all schizophrenic.

    • Isabel Gibson says:

Jim T – Thanks! That’s for the poodle, not the diagnosis. Who’s to say which is the bigger picture? 🙂

  2. Jim Robertson says:

Is this a case of looking everywhere for a flower, finding one and then they are all around you??

Given Jim’s Rorschach analysis above, I’ll leave it at that

    • Isabel Gibson says:

Jim R – 🙂 I know, right? (That’s for the Rorschach analysis.) I find that I can’t consciously look for faces, but sometimes they just pop up. And yes, in this case, everywhere!

  3. Tom Watson says:

Which one of those faces do you want to follow you around? I’m thinking the spaniel.
