Sunrise, St. Thomas

Sunrise: What does it bring?

Yes.

And another day.

“I know what I have to do. I have to keep breathing.
Because tomorrow, the sun will rise.
And who knows what the tide could bring?”
– Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland, in Cast Away

My camera’s auto mode injects some exaggeration into sunrise and sunset shots, and I have yet to take the trouble to learn how to resolve that. But even so they can be lovely reminders: in this case, of standing on the ship’s top passenger deck, braced against the wind, watching the start of another day.

Sunrise over St. Thomas, with islands in silhouette beneath a pale blue sky.

Waits a beautiful day?

Beautiful! I usually have many more sunset pictures than sunrises, but winter is coming and sunrise opportunities will be at a decent time to photograph again.

Danielle: Thanks! Sunrise is usually tougher – when the time is not too late, the weather is usually not too warm! Maybe that’s why I took the opportunity on the cruise – at least it was warm, when I struggled out of bed!
