I don’t know what this structure is for. I can’t even be sure that it was built in place, although it seems unlikely to have floated in on the tide.
Could it be to prevent unwary beachcombers from falling into a beach sinkhole? (Are there even such things? [Beach sink holes, I mean, not unwary beachcombers.] Note that suspicious swirl of water near the ocean side of the structure.)
Anyway, with the early morning light on it, it was pretty, as well as pretty puzzling.
Nice Golden Hour light on a “found subject”
Jim R – Thanks! It is pretty light, isn’t it?
I think the structure is what’s left of an early missile detection system. Or…maybe they filmed the old movie, “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming”, there, and that’s what’s left over from the movie set.
Best I can do on a Monday morning.
Tom
Tom W – Yes, it’s a puzzle. What I should have done, and did not do, was ask a local.
You mean answers from afar are spurious at best? Gosh, I tried my best too. LOL
Tom
Tom W – Well, I didn’t quite intend to say that, but you have a point! Although sometimes it takes an outsider to see what’s really going on in a situation, as far as infrastructure goes the folks who built it are likely the best source.
