National Treasure #46: Confederation Bridge

It seems so unfair. I visited PEI in October 2004, early digital camera in hand, and yet got no pictures of the bridge connecting PEI to mainland New Brunswick.

Driving over it in a regular car, you don’t see much — the barrier walls are too high — and for some reason I neglected to find a place to stand to get a photo. Maybe it was the blustery weather, which was the tail-end of a tropical storm (Nicole, maybe?)

Atlantic Ocean churned by 2004 tropical storm.

Anyway, the bridge itself, completed in 1997, is an amazing structure all of 12.9 km long. That’s an amazing length to bridge over land, never mind the ocean.
