Hinge Faces 2

We have a green plastic patio chair in the scant half of our barely double garage that stores various non-vehicular stuff:

  • a tall green compost bin awaiting its weekly turn at the curb
  • blue and black (two each) recycle bins and one beige garbage can, patiently awaiting their every-other-week turn at the curb
  • old golf clubs awaiting their final disposition
  • a lawn sign for Remembrance Day, bought several years ago from the Royal Canadian Legion and crippled by its now-busted cheap aluminum legs but still there because throwing it out seems disrespectful
  • various household items on the slow boat to off-site re-use/recycle locations

I’m not sure how or when or why the chair came to be there, but I used it the other day after puffing myself out raking last season’s dead leaves and pruning back invasive vines. With the garage door open, it gave me an interesting perspective on a part of the house that I usually see only in passing and in motion, and that I never really look at.

From overhead, a friendly and slightly pixie-ish face looked back at me.

Nearby, his (monocled?) friend did the same.

I like to have friendly faces around me.

  1. Oh, no! Hinges, are everywhere, but most of their faces are sideways, so I can ignore them. You have opened new horizons with your pixie.
